Medical Standards The OIOC provides organizations that have safety-sensitive positions or that are concerned with complying with the 1992 American with Disabilities Act (ADA) with Medical Standards. By linking job descriptions to medical conditions, these Medical Standards can be used for pre-employment screening, job placement, restricted duty determination, disability determination, and termination decision-makings. OIOC developed Medical Standards serve as a communication and management tool by providing: Uniform approach to all jobs; Structured reasoning procedure; Relevant database for decision-making The standards consist of: Job Profile Manual Physician Manual The medical profile of the individual who presents with a certain medical condition in matched against the profile of job requirements. The screening report identifies tasks and work conditions that are acceptable, unacceptable or may require additional assessments. The information guides occupational health physicians when making individualized work status determinations.
