Lower Extremity Performance During Driving Simulated Tasks (2001 to present)
Ali Sheikhzadeh PhD, CIE, Kenneth Koval, MD
The purpose of this study is to develop the protocol for testing lower extremity
functional performance as related to automobile driving. The response time and control
will be compared during low level force exertion for 15 healthy subjects and 30 subjects
post injury, with and without ankle cast immobilization. Each subject is required to
track a signal on the computer monitor, exert different levels of force on a pedal to
simulate acceleration and deceleration tasks, and move the foot between pedals to
simulate breaking and acceleration tasks.
